Farooq Abdullah Praises Congress Manifesto, Calls for Parliamentary Oversight
National Conference chief, Farooq Abdullah, lauded the recently unveiled Congress manifesto for the Lok Sabha polls, expressing optimism about its promises. Speaking to reporters after prayers at Hazratbal Shrine, he emphasized the need for parliamentary oversight of national probe agencies to ensure accountability and transparency.
Abdullah criticized the BJP for perpetuating divisive politics and urged against their attempts to create rifts between Hindus and Muslims. Meanwhile, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, also at Dargah Hazratbal, criticized the ongoing restrictions in Kashmir, describing the region as an “open-air prison.”
Despite law enforcement preventing Friday gatherings at Jamia Majid, tens of thousands of people offered prayers at Hazratbal Shrine.
