
EmpowerHer: Rising Above Addiction – 8 J&K Girls Bn NCC Cadets in Collaboration with NSS Lead Drug Awareness Drive at GGM Science College
NCC cadets of 8 J&K Girls Bn., Jammu, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) and under the initiative of NCORD, GGM Science College ,a constituent college of Cluster University, organized intensive drug awareness activities under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) 100-Days Campaign. The programme aimed to promote a drug-free campus and foster a healthy, informed, and responsible student community.
The initiative was conducted under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, who emphasized the importance of awareness and collective responsibility in combating drug abuse among youth.
A series of activities including a Poster Making Competition on Awareness for Drug Abuse, along with an awareness pledge on the theme “Say No to Drugs: Break the Chains of Addiction”, was conducted under the aegis of the Directorate of Colleges on April 29, 2026, with the objective of spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a healthy, drug-free society.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of NCC cadets and NSS volunteers under the guidance of Dr. Shafia Saleem ,Dr.Neha Sharma,Dr.Rahul Kait and Dr.Devinder Sharma. Participants expressed their views through impactful posters, creatively highlighting the consequences of substance abuse and reinforcing the message of a Drug-Free India. Their efforts reflected awareness, creativity, and a strong sense of social responsibility.
The activities were organized within the college campus, aiming to sensitize students about the growing menace of drug addiction. The programme highlighted the importance of awareness campaigns and emphasized how such initiatives play a crucial role in shaping responsible youth and building a stronger, drug-free nation.
The event concluded with a collective pledge by participants to contribute actively towards the mission of a Nasha Mukt Bharat, reinforcing their commitment to discipline, awareness, and social responsibility.
