Eminem Requests Protective Order in Ongoing Trademark Dispute with ‘The Real Housewives of Potomac’ Stars
The legal dispute between rapper Eminem and ‘The Real Housewives of Potomac’ stars Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon continues to escalate over the trademark application for the name of the Reasonably Shady podcast.
According to People magazine, Eminem recently filed for a protective order against Gizelle and Robyn on December 15 within the context of their ongoing trademark dispute.
This move comes in response to the TV personalities’ request in late October for Eminem’s personal appearance at a deposition.
The Grammy-winning artist, known widely by the monikers Slim Shady and Shady, holds the trademark rights for these names for his merchandise and records.
In the filing, Eminem asserted that appearing for a deposition himself would be “unduly burdensome” due to his “limited knowledge of the subjects at issue.”
Additionally, the documents contested the motion filed by Bryant (53) and Dixon (44), labeling it as “premature and procedurally improper,” especially since they had not yet formally served Mathers (Eminem) despite his opposition to their trademark application earlier in February 2023.
The origins of this trademark dispute emerged when Gizelle and Robyn sought to trademark their podcast’s name with the intention of merchandising.
Eminem’s legal team opposed this, citing concerns about potential consumer confusion.
The battle over the Reasonably Shady podcast’s trademark remains ongoing, with legal maneuvering and disputes unfolding between Eminem and the reality TV stars.
