ED apprehends second accused in JKSSB Sub Inspector paper leak case
Nearly three weeks after apprehending the mastermind behind the 2022 JKSSB Sub Inspector Recruitment Exam paper leak, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has made another significant breakthrough. Anil Kumar, 31, from Lahroda, Haryana, was arrested on charges under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) by the ED Jammu team.
He appeared before the Special Judge, Anti-Corruption (CBI cases) in Jammu on Thursday.
Arrest and Custody Granted
The ED has secured a five-day custody of Anil Kumar, following his arrest for alleged involvement in the JKSSB exam fraud.
This development comes after the ED’s earlier arrest of Yatin Yadav, 43, also implicated in the case, underscoring ongoing efforts to crack down on the conspiracy.
Exam Scandal Unfolds
The JKSSB sub-inspector recruitment exam, held on March 27, 2022, was marred by controversy when allegations surfaced of widespread paper leaks and malpractice.
Subsequently, three exams were canceled in Jammu and Kashmir, affecting thousands of candidates across various posts including junior engineers and finance accounting assistants.
The scandal, initially probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), culminated in a chargesheet against 33 individuals, including Yadav, on November 12, 2022.
The ED’s involvement began following the CBI’s investigation, with a focus on financial irregularities and money laundering associated with the scam.
The developments highlight ongoing efforts by enforcement agencies to root out corruption in recruitment processes and ensure accountability in public examinations.
