As the game progressed, Ireland sought to regain control but faced an impenetrable Indian defence. In the 41st minute, Ireland earned their fourth penalty corner, only to be thwarted once again by Amit Rohidas. Mandeep Singh orchestrated a brilliant chance for Gurjant Singh (38′) to extend India’s lead with a superb reverse-hit cross.
