Doda: Marmat Premier League T-10 Cricket Tournament to Begin on December 25
Cricket fever is set to grip Marmat later this month as the Marmat Premier League (MPL) T-10 Cricket Tournament gets underway on December 25 at Dranga Stadium near Goha.
The tournament will be played in a 10-over format with red balls, a structure designed to keep matches short, sharp, and competitive. Organisers have fixed the entry fee at ₹1,500 per team, noting that only a limited number of teams will be accommodated.
Several senior officials and local dignitaries are expected to attend the opening matches. The list of chief guests includes the BDO Marmat, ICPP Goha, an Army Major from 4RR Goha, and the Jammu and Kashmir Bank Manager, reflecting the tournament’s growing profile in the region.
Officials overseeing the league have stressed that discipline will be strictly enforced. Misconduct towards umpires or match officials won’t be tolerated, and organisers have made it clear that umpires’ decisions will be final. Teams have also been directed to report 30 minutes before the scheduled start of matches, with penalties or disqualification possible in case of violations.

While the organising committee will provide match balls, participating teams are required to arrange their own playing kits, including bats, pads, gloves, and helmets. Proper team attire, though not mandatory, has been recommended to maintain sporting decorum.
The league is being organised under the leadership of Chief Organiser Sayed Khan, supported by committee members Akif Wani, Saddam Wani, and Firdous Khan, whereas Suheer has been named the media partner for the event.

Organisers say the Marmat Premier League aims to promote grassroots cricket and offer a competitive platform for local talent. Teams from across the area have been invited to take part, with early registration encouraged due to limited slots.
