Doda Boy Dies After Jumping into Tawi River Near Chenani, Udhampur | Investigation Taken Up

Udhampur/Chenani: A tragic incident was reported from the Chenani–Udhampur area, where a young boy lost his life after jumping into the Tawi River at Pattan near Chenani.

The deceased has been identified as Hanan Iqbal, son of Mohd Iqbal (Master), a resident of Khlotha Khleeni area of Doda district.

According to reports, the incident occurred near the Chenani–Udhampur stretch, causing shock and grief among locals.

Soon after the incident, local authorities and rescue teams rushed to the spot and initiated search and recovery operations. However, the youth could not be saved. The exact circumstances leading to the incident are yet to be ascertained.

The police has taken the body under the custody for medico-legal formalities.

The tragic death has cast a pall of gloom over the area, with relatives, friends, and residents expressing deep sorrow over the untimely loss.

Police have taken cognizance of the matter and further proceedings are underway.
