Doda Authorities Intensify Crackdown on Illegal Mining Activities
Under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh, the District Mineral Officer (DMO) in Doda launched a significant crackdown on illegal mining activities. In a recent operation carried out in the Malik Pura area of Sub-division Gandoh, a heavy excavator engaged in illegal mining was seized. The operation was conducted with the support of the Naib Tehsildar and local police, marking a firm stand against unauthorized mining practices in the region.
Joint Operation at Diamond Stone Crusher
In a parallel effort, DMO Shri Sunil Kumar Manhas led a joint operation with the police department targeting illegal mining at the Diamond Stone Crusher in Tehsil Kahara. This operation resulted in the seizure of a JCB and 100 M.T of illegally crushed material. The collaboration between the District Mineral Office and law enforcement agencies underscores the commitment to enforce the Mineral Act and address the environmental and legal implications of illegal mining.
Implications and Enforcement of Mineral Act
These seizure operations were conducted with meticulous planning, ensuring compliance with the Mineral Act. These actions against illegal mining are not just about law enforcement; they are crucial for preserving the district’s natural resources, maintaining ecological balance, and promoting sustainable mineral resource utilization. The Doda district’s initiative serves as a model of effective governance and environmental stewardship.
