Doda, October 14: The Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana (PM Vishwakarma Scheme) is a newly introduced Central Sector Scheme aimed at bolstering traditional skills within artisan and craftsperson families who use their hands and tools to create. To discuss the implementation of this scheme in the district, a crucial meeting was convened by Deputy Commissioner (DC), Vishesh Mahajan, bringing together all stakeholders.

Strengthening Artisans in the Informal Sector

GM Industries Doda, Idrees Lone, initiated the meeting by shedding light on the strategic aspects of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme. He emphasized that the scheme would provide artisans, often referred to as Vishwakarmas, with essential financial, technical, and logistic support. These artisans are a crucial part of the informal and unorganized sector of the economy.

Comprehensive Awareness Campaign

During the meeting, the DC led discussions covering various facets of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme. He stressed the need for a comprehensive awareness campaign through print, electronic, and social media. The meeting focused on all 18 trades covered under the scheme. The DC highlighted the significance of identifying and registering eligible beneficiaries through a designated portal, and he emphasized the involvement of Sarpanches in the beneficiary verification process.

Bank Outreach for Eligible Beneficiaries

Banks, under the guidance of LDM Parveen Kumar, were urged to reach out to eligible beneficiary artisans who hold accounts in their branches. Block Diwas was proposed as a special campaign day for PM Vishwakarma Yojna, with the Departments of Industries, Employment, and Technical Education taking the lead in spreading awareness during Block Diwas and other public outreach programs. The DC specifically called for a focus on empowering women artisans and transforming their lives while promoting local traditional craftsmanship.
