Director J&K SSDD Fosters Sericulture Excellence at Poonch Campus
Director Ajaz Ahmad Bhat of the J&K State Sericulture Development Department (SSDD) led a significant engagement with students from the Department of Sericulture at Poonch Campus. This interaction, held at the Central Silk Board (CSB) in Miran Sahib, Jammu, aimed to strengthen ties between the department and its students, fostering avenues for enriched learning experiences.
Accompanied by Dr. Rubia Bukhari, Incharge Department of Sericulture at Poonch Campus, and CSB officials, Director Bhat connected extensively with students undergoing a 45-day training program. He reaffirmed the department’s dedication to organizing exposure tours and enhancing students’ practical knowledge in sericulture.
Commitment to Transformative Initiatives
During the engagement, Director Bhat lauded Dr. Rubia Bukhari’s instrumental role in spearheading transformative initiatives such as the Cocoon Artistry Initiative. He stressed the initiatives’ significance in the socio-economic development of Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, Director Bhat pledged to explore collaboration opportunities between the department and Poonch Campus students, fostering mutual growth and development.

Director Rakesh Vaid of Poonch Campus recently visited P.G. scholars undertaking their 45-day dissertation program at the Regional Sericultural Research Station in Miran Sahib, Jammu. He assured the scholars of the campus’s commitment to organizing various programs aimed at exposing them to the latest sericulture techniques. This pledge underscores the campus’s dedication to providing comprehensive learning experiences, enhancing students’ knowledge and skills in the field.
