DIG CKR-Srinagar Reviews Drug De-Addiction Center, Commends Staff Efforts
DIG CKR Srinagar, Sujit Kumar-IPS, recently visited the Drug De-Addiction Centre located at Eidgah Srinagar to assess its operations. Dr. Muzafar Ahmad Khan, the Incharge of the Drug De-Addiction Centre, warmly welcomed the officer and introduced him to all the In-Patient Department (IPD) patients.
During his visit, the DIG engaged in conversations with the patients, seeking their feedback on the center’s services. In an effort to address any concerns or grievances, DIG CKR conducted a meeting with the center’s staff, assuring them that their issues would be addressed appropriately.
Emphasizing the importance of the staff’s dedication, the officer encouraged them to continue their efforts. While acknowledging the center’s established reputation, he highlighted that more work is needed to combat drug addiction, considering it as a pressing social issue that demands a comprehensive approach.
The Drug De-Addiction Centre is a commendable initiative by the Jammu and Kashmir police, aiming to achieve the ambitious goal of zero drug addiction in Kashmir. Alongside DIG CKR, other notable figures present during the visit included SP City North Raja Zuhaib, SDPO Mahraj Gunj Shri Hari Prasad-IPS, and SHO Safakadal Insp. Sheikh Vakil.
Highlighting the center’s impact, it was noted that the Drug De-Addiction Centre has successfully treated thousands of drug addicts in the valley. Over the past two years, a total of 4,448 individuals received treatment, with 2,337 in 2022 and 2,321 in 2023.
