KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 03: Dr. Rakesh Minhas, District Election Officer (DEO) of Kathua, conducted a thorough review meeting today to evaluate the preparations for the Assembly Elections 2024. This meeting brought together key officials from the Assembly Constituencies of 63 Bani, 64 Billawar, 65 Basohli, 66 Jasrota, 67 Kathua, and 68 Hiranagar.
In attendance were Returning Officers (ROs), Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) from each constituency, Zonal Magistrates, Sector Magistrates, and local police officers. Dr. Minhas highlighted the critical importance of ensuring stringent security protocols for Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) throughout the electoral process.
The DEO also stressed the need for coordinated efforts to facilitate home voting options for voters who are physically disabled or elderly, underscoring the goal of an inclusive electoral process. Continuous communication with the RO offices was deemed essential to swiftly address any issues or needs that may arise.
The meeting focused on the logistics of dispatching polling materials, EVMs, and polling parties to ensure a seamless and efficient polling day. Dr. Minhas emphasized the necessity of timely reporting on voter turnout and maintaining rigorous oversight of EVMs during their transportation and storage.
