
Dengue Cases Rise in J&k as Outbreak Persists. Pic/daily excelsior
Today, an additional 45 cases of dengue have been reported in various areas of Jammu and Kashmir, bringing the total number of cases for this year to 2,672. A health official disclosed that out of these, 39 cases originated from the Jammu district alone, while Kathua and Udhampur reported 2 cases each, and 2 cases were identified in other regions of the country. Among the positive cases, there were 37 adults and 8 children.
The majority of the reported cases, totaling 1,894, have been concentrated in the Jammu district. Following this, Udhampur district had 218 cases, Kathua had 199 cases, and Samba reported 186 cases each. Additionally, there were 45 cases in Rajouri, 28 in Ramban, 24 in Reasi, 20 in Doda, 15 in Poonch, 3 in Kishtwar, 15 in Kashmir, and 21 from other parts of the country.

The official also provided information about the current status of dengue patients in hospitals. To date, a total of 917 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals. Of these, 805 have been discharged, while 85 patients are still receiving treatment.
Expressing concern about the increasing number of dengue cases, the official urged citizens to take preventive measures. He emphasized the importance of preventing water stagnation in and around homes since the mosquitoes responsible for dengue breed in stagnant water. To achieve this, he recommended covering water-filled containers and tanks and emptying coolers at least twice a week.
