New Delhi: In a significant breakthrough, the Delhi Police apprehended two siblings, Tej Singh, 27, and Subedar Singh, 20, both residents of Nihal Vihar in the Nangloi area, with a staggering 915 grams of heroin. This contraband is estimated to be worth over ₹1 crore in the international market. The arrest was carried out following a tip-off received by the Special Commissioner of Police (Crime), Ravindra Singh Yadav.
The Smugglers’ Elusive Plan
Acting on the information, a specialized team from the crime branch quickly assembled and moved to Sector 23-24 red light in Rohini, where the brothers were expected to arrive with the consignment of heroin for distribution. The successful operation resulted in the apprehension of the accused in the capital city.
Big Haul in the War Against Drugs
Upon inspecting the suspects’ possessions, the police seized a substantial quantity of heroin weighing 915 grams. The value of this seized contraband is staggering and indicates the extent of the drug trade in the region. Special Commissioner Ravindra Singh Yadav emphasized the importance of such operations in curbing drug-related crime in the city.A Family Affair:
The Dark Side of the Syndicate
Tej Singh and Subedar Singh had been actively involved in drug peddling within Delhi for a prolonged period of 10 months, according to police sources. During their interrogation, the siblings revealed that they had a mutual friend deeply embedded in the drug trade. Shockingly, they also disclosed that one of their brothers, Kunwar Singh, was part of a nefarious operation transporting drugs from various states to the national capital, using a taxi.Criminal Roots:
Kunwar Singh’s Checkered Past
Kunwar Singh’s criminal record came to light as well, as it was revealed that he had been arrested by the Delhi Police Crime Branch back in 2018 in an NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) case. This history of criminal involvement further underscores the significance of dismantling such drug syndicates to protect the community and youth from the clutches of addiction.
