Delhi Constable Commits Suicide; Family Troubles Suspected
In a tragic incident, a constable at Shahdara Police Station in Delhi allegedly took his own life by shooting himself at approximately 2:30 am, according to the Delhi Police. The constable, identified as Manjeet, had joined the Delhi Police in 2022 and was assigned to the reserve battalion located at Northeast Delhi’s Mansarovar Park police station.
According to details provided by the Delhi Police, on Saturday night, around 2:30 am, Manjeet reportedly took out a rifle and shot himself three times. The sound of the gunshots alerted fellow police officers who immediately gathered at the scene.
The police are conducting an investigation based on the information obtained from the constable’s mobile phone. Preliminary reports suggest that Manjeet may have been grappling with family troubles, which could have contributed to this tragic incident. Following the suicide attempt, Manjeet sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in Delhi, where he underwent an operation.
The Delhi Police is currently conducting further investigations to better understand the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident.
