DDC Doda Reviews Financial Performance of financial institutions DLRC meeting.
In a significant development for the district, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) of Doda, Vishesh Mahajan, chaired a District Level Review Committee/District Consultative Committee (DLRC/DCC) meeting. The meeting’s primary objective was to assess the performance of financial institutions and banks in the district concerning various government initiatives and sponsored schemes. Here are the key highlights from the meeting:
Empowering Unemployed Youth
One notable initiative during the meeting was the distribution of sanction letters under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and other self-employment schemes to unemployed youth in the district. This effort aims to enable young individuals to establish their livelihoods with dignity while creating employment opportunities for others as well.
Addressing Non-Performing Assets (NPAs)
Banks presented a list of Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) during the meeting and requested support from the District Administration for recovery. In response, DDC Doda directed the banks to resubmit the list with comprehensive details of pending amounts and liabilities associated with each NPA. This information will be used to initiate proceedings under the Land Revenue Act and other relevant regulations.
Prioritizing Key Sectors
DDC emphasized the importance of prioritizing sectors like agriculture, renewable energy, and education. He urged banks to promote schemes related to renewable energy, including loans and subsidies, and encouraged housing loan beneficiaries to consider subsidized loans for solar and renewable energy units. Additionally, he stressed the need to lower interest rates on educational loans to benefit the student community.

He encouraged banks and sponsoring agencies to hold monthly meetings to support applicants under self-employment schemes and promote maximum livelihood generation opportunities. Special attention was given to innovative entrepreneurs in the district.
Upcoming Disbursal Mela and Special Campaign
It was decided during the meeting that a mega disbursal mela for all self-employment schemes would be organized on 7th October at the district headquarters. Additionally, a special campaign will run from 1st October to 15th October to achieve 100% saturation of social security schemes such as PMJJBY, PMSBY, APY, and others.
R-SETI Progress
Regarding the establishment of Rural Self-Employment Training Institutes (R-SETI), suitable land has been allocated, and construction is set to commence soon. R-SETI will provide skills and training in areas such as lavender cultivation, horticulture, agriculture, and processing of agricultural products, with a special focus on the agro sector.
This DLRC/DCC meeting was attended by various officials and representatives from government departments, private commercial banks, and other stakeholders. It marks a crucial step toward enhancing economic development and empowering the youth in the Doda district.
