DC Doda Takes Action to Alleviate Traffic Congestion
Doda, October 5: Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Mahajan, has initiated measures to address traffic congestion in the town. In a meeting led by ACR Doda, Sanjeev Kumar, discussions were held to identify new auto stands in strategic locations to accommodate the growing passenger traffic.
Enhancing Auto Stand Aesthetics and Vendor Accommodation
DC Doda suggested improving the primary auto stand’s appearance near the old bus stand, including installing small vendor carts in the fountain area for displaced vendors.
New Electric Auto Stands and Visibility Improvements
The Deputy Commissioner recommended establishing electric auto stands near Ganpati Brigade, close to the police chowki at Ghat Road, and near Bharat Nallah. To enhance visibility and management, yellow lines and unique auto stand number signboards will be painted at existing stands. Auto vehicles will have specific number plates with the symbol “D” and sequential numbering. CCTV cameras will be installed for monitoring.
Auto Stand Near Associated Hospital and Driver Accountability
A new auto stand near the Associated Hospital of GMC Doda was proposed. Auto drivers will be issued identity cards linked to their vehicles for accountability.
Expanding Auto Stand Locations
Approximately 225 autos are registered under the Motor Vehicles Department, and additional auto stand locations, including one near the Clock Tower on Dessa Road, were suggested to manage traffic congestion.
Key officials attended the meeting, including ACR Doda, CPO Doda, SP Doda, Accounts Officer DC Office Doda, ARTO Doda, Executive Officer MC Doda, and officers from the Traffic Police Department.
