Cydome Introduces First Cybersecurity Solution for Offshore Wind Farms That Requires No Physical Installation
First-of-its-kind cybersecurity protection for clean energy deploys remotely as a container on existing VSAT routers, delivering operational simplicity and eliminating the need for on-site technicians.
London, United Kingdom — February 3, 2026 — Cydome, a pioneer of maritime and critical infrastructure cybersecurity, today introduces a new deployment option for its maritime cybersecurity platform: Cydome Embedded for Remote Energy Facilities.
This innovative implementation deploys Cydome’s comprehensive cyber protection directly on existing communication devices, enabling advanced cybersecurity and regulatory compliance for hard-to-maintain, space-constrained facilities such as offshore wind farms, without requiring any physical access to the site.
With evolving cybersecurity regulations placing increased demands on critical infrastructure and the rise in cyber threats, offshore and renewable energy operators face mounting pressure to protect assets and facilities that are physically difficult to access.
Cydome Embedded is the first solution to use advanced edge computing, providing robust zero-touch security as an embedded virtual container that runs directly on and is optimized for existing, often resource-constrained, VSAT routers and other network edge devices.
The highly optimized software is fully installed and maintained remotely, eliminating the need for physical access—sometimes in rough waters—while maintaining top-tier cyber protection.
The offshore renewable energy sector is expanding rapidly. Europe operates approximately 135 wind farms, with over 6,000 turbines and 34 GW of capacity, with new installations growing 40% year over year.
The U.S. market is also accelerating as new policies open previously protected areas for offshore development, a strategic priority given the country’s severe energy shortage.

Yet, according to Cyber Energia, only 1% of 11,000 wind assets globally have adequate cyber protection. UK renewable energy assets face up to 1,000 attempted cyberattacks per day, while Trustwave reports an 80% increase in ransomware attacks on energy and utilities in 2025, with average incident costs exceeding $5 million.
Sophos also found that 67% of energy organizations were hit by ransomware in 2023, and 90% of the world’s largest energy companies suffered breaches that year.
However, the economics of protecting offshore facilities and complying with cybersecurity regulations have so far been prohibitive.
Sending a technician for on-site installation can cost up to $200,000, including vessel rental. A single day of downtime for a 10MW turbine results in $15,000–$30,000 in lost revenue.
Existing solutions require physical access for installation and network connection, making it highly challenging to protect wind farms, which typically include dozens of dispersed turbines.
Based on Cydome’s class-certified and endorsed (ClasNK, RINA) platform—already deployed on hundreds of vessels and offshore facilities—Cydome Embedded provides:
AI-driven real-time cyber threat detection
Network security
Automated vulnerability scanning
Centralized multi-site risk management
Regulatory compliance monitoring across both IT and OT environments
“Existing cybersecurity solutions assume you can send technicians to install hardware. We have achieved a technological breakthrough that delivers full protection on existing hardware with minimal computing power, enabling operators to secure remote assets, including maritime-specific assets, without the need for physical access,”
said Nir Ayalon, Founder & CEO of Cydome.
The platform provides centralized multi-site management, enabling security monitoring across entire wind farms and other energy facilities from a single interface.
Operators also gain comprehensive compliance capabilities required by evolving cybersecurity regulations.
Cydome Embedded for Remote Energy Facilities is generally available and supports deployment on existing routers from PeplinkⓇ, SpeedcastⓇ, and others.
