CSK’s Jadeja Joins Kohli and Rohit:Jadeja’s Dominance in the Field and with the Ball
Throughout the first innings, Jadeja exhibited a commanding presence, pushing KKR against the wall with a sensational spell and remarkable fielding efforts. His contribution included two catches and three crucial wickets, which significantly restricted KKR to a sub-par score of 137/9. With these catches, Jadeja became only the fourth player to complete 100 catches as a fielder in the IPL. His first catch came on the very first ball of KKR’s innings, dismissing Philip Salt for a golden duck. In the 20th over, he secured another catch at deep mid-wicket after KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer miscued his shot.
Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Virat Kohli leads the chart with a remarkable tally of 110 catches in 242 matches. Following closely is former Chennai Super Kings star Suresh Raina with an impressive tally of 109 catches in 205 matches. Former MI all-rounder Kieron Pollard holds the third spot with 103 catches in 189 matches.
Last week, Rohit Sharma joined this elite group, becoming the fourth player to take 100 catches in the IPL during MI’s win over Delhi Capitals. His milestone catch, completing Jhye Richardson’s dismissal, came in his 247th match of the competition.
Jadeja’s impact extended beyond his fielding prowess as he spearheaded the bowling attack against KKR, setting the stage for a comprehensive seven-wicket victory for the hosts. His spell of three wickets for just 18 runs in four overs played a crucial role in restricting KKR to 137/9.
