CS seeks scientists advice on preventive measures for Ramban land sinking

Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo conducted a comprehensive review of relief measures for the land subsidence in village Pernote, Ramban district, in preparation for an upcoming review by the Union Home Secretary. The meeting, attended by top officials including ACS, Divisional Commissioner, ADGP, and representatives from Geological Survey of India (GSI), focused on assessing the aid extended to the affected population and formulating long-term rehabilitation measures.
Dulloo enquired about the health status of the victims and the total damage caused to their livelihoods, emphasizing the importance of providing succor to the affected families. He engaged with GSI scientists to gain insights into the scientific reasons behind the calamity and urged for preventive measures to avoid future incidents.
Furthermore, Dulloo called for a detailed analysis of the area’s historical incidents and critical infrastructure, such as transmission towers and roadways, to formulate requisite plans accordingly. Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, provided detailed information about relief measures, emphasizing the need for permanent rehabilitation of affected families and restoration of utilities in the area, including the 400kv transmission line.
