Congress President Pays Tribute to Kakori Conspiracy Revolutionaries
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge honored the memory of freedom fighters Veer Pandit Ramprasad Bismil, Thakur Roshan Singh, and Ashfaq Ullah Khan, who were sentenced to death by the British government for their involvement in the Kakori conspiracy.
Kharge acknowledged the sacrifice of these brave revolutionaries, highlighting their remarkable contributions to the nation. He paid tribute to their joint martyrdom and lauded their unparalleled dedication towards the motherland in a social media post.
Emphasizing the essence of the ‘Ganga-Jamuni’ culture, Kharge underscored the importance of unity in facing the nation’s greatest challenges. He advocated for overcoming communalism and prejudices to unite India, echoing the inspirational message conveyed by these revolutionaries.
The Kakori Train Action, also known as the Kakori Conspiracy, occurred on August 9, 1925, near Lucknow, as a significant event during the Indian Independence Movement against British colonial rule. The motive behind the train robbery was to protest against the heavy taxation imposed on Indians and redirect the funds to support the Hindustan Republican Association (HRA), rather than allowing the money to remain in British hands.
Organized by the Hindustan Republican Association, the robbery led to the arrest of over 40 individuals. Subsequently, they were sentenced to death by the British government, while severe punishments were imposed on others involved in the incident. The sacrifices made by these revolutionaries continue to be remembered and revered for their courageous stand against colonial oppression.
