Former Andhra Pradesh CM Challenges High Court Verdict
Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), N Chandrababu Naidu, has escalated his legal battle by filing a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court. His SLP challenges the judgment of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, which had previously rejected his plea to quash the FIR lodged against him in connection with the alleged multi-crore skill development corporation scam.
Moving to the Supreme Court
Naidu’s decision to approach the Supreme Court comes after the state high court’s order dismissing his petition. The TDP’s official spokesperson, N Vijaya Kumar, stated that the SLP is expected to be listed for a hearing in the Supreme Court in the coming days.
Interrogation and Legal Proceedings
Simultaneously, Naidu has been facing legal proceedings and investigations into the skill development corporation scam. A team of Crime Investigation Department (CID) officials initiated their interrogation of Naidu while he remains in judicial remand at the Rajahmundry central prison since September 11.

Police Custody and Participation in Interrogation
Recently, the special court for anti-corruption bureau cases in Vijayawada granted a two-day police custody of Naidu, further extending his judicial remand. During the police custody period, a team comprising nine senior officials from the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the CID, along with six junior police officers, a professional videographer, and two official mediators, participated in the interrogation process.
Legal Representation and Precautions
To ensure transparency during the interrogation, senior advocate and former advocate general of the state, Dammalapati Srinivas, was allowed to be present in the hall while Naidu was questioned. The court explicitly instructed authorities not to subject Naidu to any form of third-degree treatment during the process.
Medical Support During Interrogation
Considering the potential stress and health concerns during the questioning, Naidu was granted a five-minute break for every hour to consult with his lawyer. The jail authorities also made adequate medical arrangements, including access to medicines and ambulance services, to address any medical emergencies that may arise during the interrogation.Naidu’s legal battle and the ongoing investigations into the skill development corporation scam continue to be closely watched developments in Andhra Pradesh’s political landscape.
