BREAKING: Saudi Arabia Intercepts 2 Houthi Ballistic Missiles, 4 Drones

The build-up in the ongoing war between the Saudi-led coalition and Yemen’s Houthis has been fierce, with new information emerging Thursday. The coalition claimed to have intercepted two ballistic missiles and four drones targeting the kingdom by Iran-supported Houthis.

They announced on X that they “intercepted and destroyed” these enemies over Jazan south Saudi Arabian city already a location of interest close to energy and oil infrastructure, and over Khamis Mushait in the southwest home to an air base.

The Saudi-led coalition attributed the following launchings to “the Houthi terrorist militia.” The Saud civil defence said in the region of Khamis Mushait a missile had been shot down, but only caused “limited material damage”.

The attacks are the latest in a series of Houthi strikes since July, when a new escalation of the conflict shattered an uneasy ceasefire and drew Yemen into the wider Middle East war.

Things escalated further in September. The Houthis mounted a blitzkrieg offensive and captured Yemen’s entire Red Sea coast, notably the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

At the same time, the Houthis also blocked the flow of Saudi energy exports, which already had to navigate through the Strait of Hormuz.
