Bombay High Court Directs CBI to Probe Disha Salian Death , Former Manager of of Sushant Singh Rajput

MUMBAI, September 2 [VoM News]: In a major development, the Bombay High Court on Wednesday ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to register an FIR (First Information Report) and thoroughly investigate the death of Disha Salian, the former manager of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

A bench of Justices Sarang Kotwal and Ranjitsinha Raja Bhonsale directed the Mumbai Police to hand over all the documents related to the investigation to the CBI.

Disha Salian had died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 14th floor of an apartment building in Malad, Mumbai.

Her death occurred just a few days before the body of Sushant Singh Rajput was discovered at his Bandra residence. The Mumbai Police had initially filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in the case.

The Bombay High Court directed the CBI to take the statement of Disha Salian’s father, Satish Salian, register an FIR and assign a senior official to head the investigation.

The court clarified that no one should be arrested until there is concrete evidence, but if the investigation reveals sufficient proof of a crime, those responsible will be brought to book.

“If investigation reveals that no case is made out, then the CBI shall file appropriate summary report before the appropriate court and the same shall be open to challenge by the deceased’s father,” the order stated.

Mumbai Police had ruled out homicide in Disha Salian’s death and maintained it was an accident or suicide. However, her father moved the High Court claiming she was gang-raped and murdered.

Earlier, the High Court had questioned the lack of an FIR in the case, despite allegations from Salian’s family, and had noted the unavailability of the post-mortem report and ADR to her family even after years.

The CBI inquiry will now scrutinize whether a criminal offense occurred and if so, who are the culprits.
