Boat Sinks in Odisha’s Jharsuguda: Woman dead, seven missing
A tragic incident occurred in Jharsuguda, Odisha, where a boat carrying over 50 passengers capsized in the Mahanadi River on Friday. Sadly, a 35-year-old woman lost her life, and seven others, including three children, are still missing.
Rescue efforts have been underway, with over 40 people successfully rescued so far. Jharsuguda collector Kartikeya Goyal, who arrived at the scene promptly after being informed, stated, “The Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) is actively conducting the search operation. We’ve been informed that scuba divers from Bhubaneshwar will assist in the rescue.”
Goyal also mentioned, “We’ve rescued approximately 47-48 individuals and plan to return them to their villages tonight. Tragically, the body of a 35-year-old woman has been recovered, and we are still searching for four women and three children.”
The search and rescue operation continues as more details are awaited.
