BJP Workers Attack Journalist Nikhil Wagle’s Car Over Alleged Defamatory Remarks
In a shocking incident, journalist Nikhil Wagle’s car faced an attack in Pune allegedly by BJP workers, enraged by defamatory remarks he made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and veteran leader LK Advani. The assailants, yet to be identified, threw ink at Wagle’s car in Pune’s Deccan area, causing damage to the windscreen and side panes. Wagle was en route to address the “Nirbhay Bano” rally organized by Rashtra Seva Dal.
Legal Battle Unfolds: Wagle Challenges NA-238 Election Results
Simultaneously, Wagle finds himself embroiled in a legal battle as he challenges the results of the NA-238 election in the Sindh High Court. The petition argues that discrepancies in Forms 45 and 47 led to the declaration of MQM-P candidate Sadiq Iftikhar as the winner, urging the court to suspend the victory notification.
Opposition Condemns BJP’s Actions and Questions Police Inaction
The opposition responded vehemently, condemning the attack on Wagle and questioning the BJP’s actions. NCP’s Supriya Sule criticized the incident, alleging that police were mere spectators during the attack. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut claimed that women workers of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) were assaulted by “BJP goons,” denouncing it as a brazen attempt to undermine democracy.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured that the police would take action against those involved, emphasizing that regardless of party affiliation, anyone violating the law would face consequences. However, he also criticized derogatory remarks made by Wagle against the senior leader.
