
Doda, January 18 —Bhaderwah Winter Carnival 2026: Giving a fresh push to farmer entrepreneurship and the promotion of native agricultural produce, the Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare, Doda, in partnership with the District Administration, unveiled the brand ‘Rajma Chol’ on Saturday during the Bhaderwah Winter Carnival 2026.
The brand has been developed by the Bhaderkashi Fruit Producer Company Ltd, a Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO), and showcases the celebrated Bhaderwah rajma, widely known for its superior taste and high nutritional value. Officials said the initiative is designed to help farmers secure better market visibility, improved pricing and sustainable income opportunities.
The launch event witnessed the presence of popular singer and local pride Chirag Kotwal, along with DDC Chairman Doda Dhananter Singh Kotwal, Deputy Commissioner Doda Harvinder Singh (IAS), SSP Doda Sandeep Kumar Mehta, senior administrative officers and public representatives.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh commended the Agriculture Department and the FPO for building a distinct identity for Bhaderwah rajma. He observed that branding local produce is a critical step toward value addition and can open doors to wider national and international markets, ultimately benefiting farming households.
Other speakers highlighted the role of Farmer Producer Organisations in strengthening farmers’ collective bargaining power, streamlining supply chains and creating resilient livelihood models in rural areas.
The introduction of ‘Rajma Chol’ was hailed as a key highlight of the Winter Carnival, which has grown into a major platform for promoting tourism, culture and local enterprise, while offering regional products an opportunity to reach a broader audience.
