
Bengal-based E-Commerce Platform Fined by Legal Metrology Department Jammu For Violation of Packaging Rules
A bengal-based e-commerce platform has been fined 1.80 lakh due to violation of packaging rules after complaint regarding the less quantity of delivery of healthcare product to a customer was recieved by Legal Metrology Department Jammu.
A written complaint was recieved by the Legal Metrology Department Jammu, in which it was alleged that the delivery recieved has less quantity of the cosmetic healthcare products.

The complain further alleged that the delivery package contains only 50 percent of quantity. A quantity measurement test has also confirmed the negligence which hints out a serious violation of Consumer Rights & violations of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009, and Legal Metrology packaged (Commodities) Rules, 2011.
After the action was taken, the aggrieved customer was refunded the amount by the defrauding firm. The case was compounded and a fine of Rs 1.80 Lakh was imposed on the firm.
The manufacturers, packers, importers, suppliers, sellers are bound the rules and regulations of providing the exact/precise quantity what they purchase.
