Jammu and Kashmir Police in Bandipora recovered Rs 5.50 lakhs and 19 stolen smartphones valued at Rs 3 lakhs while investigating financial frauds and social media crimes reported by residents.
Six individuals arrested for derogatory remarks in Kashmir
A police spokesperson in a statement said, “The recovered amount was refunded to victims’ bank accounts following legal formalities, while the smartphones were returned to their rightful owners. Victims expressed gratitude for the police’s dedicated efforts in addressing these crimes.”

The police have urged the public to exercise caution while using mobile devices and electronic platforms to prevent cyber fraud.
Victims of cybercrime are encouraged to report incidents via the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal or call the toll-free number 1930. Reports of stolen mobile phones can be lodged on the CEIR portal.
