Azad Criticizes Omar Abdullah, Calls Him ‘Tourist’ in JK
The day after Omar Abdullah criticized Ghulam Nabi Azad, the president of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), in Chenab Valley, Azad fired back by accusing Abdullah of visiting Jammu and Kashmir merely as a tourist.
Speaking at a public gathering in Doda, Azad pointed out that Abdullah spends his summers at his maternal grandfather’s home in London and winters in another country, suggesting that he is out of touch with local politics. Azad was responding to Abdullah’s comment that the DPAP has shrunk to representing only the Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency.

Azad quipped, “Omar, if you spent more time in India, you’d know better. You’re here as a tourist, visiting your grandfather’s place in London during summers and warmer countries in winters.”
Further, Azad criticized Abdullah’s tenure as Chief Minister, claiming he rarely visited the Chenab Valley and hasn’t been there in the last decade. “Did you ever see Omar Abdullah in Doda, Bhaderwah, or Kishtwar during his time as Chief Minister? Has he been here in the last 10 years?” Azad questioned, accusing Abdullah of touring villages only to seek votes and mislead the public.
Interestingly, the Peoples Conference had also labeled Omar Abdullah as a “tourist” in the Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency just a day prior.
