Awareness event organised at ANMT School Doda to mark National Dengue Day
DODA, MAY 16: To mark the National Dengue Day 2024, the District Malaria Unit, under the banner of District Health Society Doda, today organized an awareness programme and debate competition here at ANMT School Doda.Incharge Chief Medical Officer, Dr Abdul Gafoor Ahmed was the Chief Guest at the event attended by ANMT School Principal Anusuya Bhan, Principal Taran Paramedical Institute Ghat Farzana Tabassum, Mashhood Latif, Rubeena Ishtiaq, Saima Kousar besides Staff of CMO Office, Malaria Section and students of ANMT were present on the occasion.
The programme started with the Guest Lectures delivered by Umar Anayat (District Epidemiologist) and Dr Nasir Masood (Medical Officer). They underlined the significance of the day and highlighted that dengue can be prevented by controlling the mosquito breeding through measures such as removing stagnant water resources, using mosquito nets and wearing protective clothing and taking other preventive measures.
As many as 6 students from different paramedical institutes viz ANMT School Doda, Taran Paramedical Institute Ghat and Hussain Paramedical Institute Ghat participated and highlighted the importance of the day.Dr Javed Ahmed Parray, Mohd Shafi Attu (HE) and Roma Sharma acted as Jury, while Farooq Ahmed (JHI) coordinated the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Dr Ab Gafoor Ahmed educated participants about the Dengue virus, its prevention and control. “Dengue is one of the most common vector borne diseases in India and it is essential to be aware of the preventative measures that individuals should take to battle the illness, “he said.
IEC material on Dengue prevention was also distributed among the participants by District Malaria Unit Doda.In the debate competition, Mehar Ul Nisa of ANMT Doda, Zahid Shafiq of Hussain Paramedical Institute Ghat and Sehar Younis of Taran Paramedical Institute Ghat were declared as Ist, 2nd and 3rd respectively, who were awarded with Mementos and Certificates.Faizan A Tramboo conducted the proceedings of the programme.
Similarly, National Dengue Day was also observed at the Medical Blocks of Assar, Bhaderwah, Gandoh, Ghat and Thathri, by organising awareness programmes under the supervision of the concerned Block Medical Officers.
