Apple Reportedly Secures Deal with OpenAI for AI Capabilities

    Key Highlights:

    • Apple rumored to have secured partnership with OpenAI for AI capabilities.
    • Deal could see integration of OpenAI’s ChatGPT into Apple’s ecosystem.
    • Partnership expected to be announced during WWDC 2024 event.

According to reports, Apple may have clinched a deal with OpenAI, potentially worth billions of dollars, as the Cupertino-based company seeks to bolster its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. In a race to secure a partner for its AI needs, Apple was reportedly in discussions with Google and OpenAI, with the latter emerging as the chosen partner.

The partnership, reportedly to be announced during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 event on June 10, is said to involve OpenAI providing its AI technology to Apple, including its renowned virtual chatbot, ChatGPT.

While the exact details of the deal remain undisclosed, speculation suggests that OpenAI may profit from secondary avenues, such as charging users for ChatGPT usage or offering premium subscriptions. However, these are mere conjectures awaiting official confirmation.

Interestingly, concerns have arisen regarding this partnership’s impact on Microsoft’s collaboration with OpenAI, with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella purportedly expressing apprehension.

Notwithstanding the OpenAI deal, Apple is actively pursuing AI integration across various platforms and applications, including Siri, Safari, Photos, Notes, and macOS, aiming to enhance user experiences with AI-powered features.
