iOS 17.1.2 and macOS Sonoma 14.1.2 Now Available: Apple Releases iOS 17.1.2 and macOS Sonoma 14.1.2 Updates
Apple has rolled out the latest updates for its operating systems – iOS 17.1.2 for iPhones and macOS Sonoma 14.1.2 for Macs. These updates come after the initial release of iOS 17 for the iPhone 15 series and select older models. Aimed at addressing minor issues and enhancing security, these updates are part of Apple’s ongoing efforts to refine its software.
Updates Target Security Improvements and Bug Fixes
The primary focus of iOS 17.1.2 and macOS Sonoma 14.1.2 is to enhance security and resolve known bugs. These updates are available over the air and can be installed on compatible iPhone and Mac models, starting from iPhone 11 and iMac Pro (2017 or later).
Downloading and Installing iOS 17.1.2
iPhone users can download iOS 17.1.2 through the Settings app. To install the update, navigate to Settings > General > Software Update, and follow the on-screen instructions. It’s advisable to connect the device to a power source during the update process.
Security Patches for WebKit Browser Engine
Apple has addressed two actively exploited flaws in the WebKit browser engine that affected older iOS versions. These vulnerabilities, identified as CVE-2023-42916 and CVE-2023-42917, had the potential to compromise sensitive content. The company implemented improved input validation and memory corruption protection as fixes.
Anticipation for iOS 17.2
In addition to these updates, Apple is working on iOS 17.2, expected to launch later this month. This upcoming update is set to introduce the new Journal app for iPhone, along with enhancements to the Apple TV app. It will also feature new clock and weather widgets, collaborative playlists in Apple Music, and other improvements.
