On Thursday, Home Minister Amit Shah presented the ‘Excellence in Investigation’ award to Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar during a ceremony held in New Delhi. This recognition was bestowed upon the police officer, well-known for his remarkable investigative skills and expertise, at the Anti-terrorism Conference held at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in the nation’s capital.
Balwal, an officer from the 2012 batch of the Indian Police Service (IPS) with a cadre belonging to Manipur, has served in various roles throughout his career. He has played a pivotal role in successfully solving numerous high-profile cases, including the Pulwama militant attack, which tragically claimed the lives of over 40 CRPF personnel. Notably, due to the ongoing situation in his home cadre of Manipur, Balwal was recently repatriated there prematurely.
