Ambulance Driver Fatally Attacked in Navi Mumbai
In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old ambulance driver, Yuvraj Amrendra Singh, lost his life while another driver, Dyaneshwar Nakade, was injured in an attack by unidentified assailants in Navi Mumbai. The brutal attack took place near the gate of D Y Patil Hospital in the Nerul area around 8.15 pm on Sunday. This tragic event has raised concerns about the safety of emergency service personnel in the city.
Details of the Attack
The assault occurred when four unidentified individuals ambushed the ambulance that Singh and Nakade were operating. One of the attackers forcefully pulled Singh out of the vehicle and assaulted him with a bamboo stick, while others vandalized the ambulance. Nakade, despite being injured, managed to drive the ambulance past the hospital gate and alerted the owner of the ambulance service.
Aftermath and Police Response
Singh was later discovered with a stab wound to his neck and was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The police have registered an offence under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant provisions of the Mumbai Police Act. A manhunt has been initiated to apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime. This incident has brought to light the risks faced by emergency service workers and the need for enhanced measures to protect them.
