Key Highlights:
- Algorand Foundation’s AlgoBharat initiative introduces app developer programme for blockchain education in India.
- Nasscom collaborates with Algorand to offer blockchain training via FutureSkills Prime platform.
- Programme aligned with India’s National Occupational Standards and National Skills Qualification Framework.
Algorand is strengthening its foothold in India’s blockchain sector with the launch of its app developer programme through AlgoBharat. Partnering with Nasscom, the primary non-government tech trade body in India, Algorand aims to provide comprehensive blockchain education to Indian engineers.
Announced on May 4, the training course is now available on Nasscom’s FutureSkills Prime platform, backed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. AlgoBharat’s programme aligns with India’s National Occupational Standards (NOS) and National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), ensuring relevance and quality in blockchain education.
The initiative includes detailed webinars focusing on blockchain research and development, offering promising developers opportunities to participate in national and international blockchain development workshops. Algorand’s collaboration with Nasscom marks a significant milestone, making it the first blockchain platform to partner with the tech trade body.
In a press release, Algorand highlighted its investment in university engagements over the past 18 months, providing educational content and hands-on activities to support the learning journey of India’s computer science and engineering students. The initiative underscores Algorand’s commitment to fostering talent and innovation in India’s blockchain ecosystem.
Algorand’s focus on student engagement in India has intensified since its partnership with the Maharashtra government in 2022 to store health-related data using blockchain technology. Anil Kakani, Vice President and India Country Head at Algorand Foundation, emphasized the company’s vision to make India a global hub for Web3 development during an interview with Gadgets360 in April 2023.
The foundation has expanded its engagement with students across Indian universities, with Algorand Blockchain Clubs now present in over 50 educational institutes. Additionally, Algorand has announced the third iteration of its faculty training programme on blockchain at Bengaluru’s BMS College of Engineering.
“It’s inspiring to see students starting blockchain clubs across the nation and learning to build on the Algorand blockchain platform. Our partnership with Nasscom’s FutureSkills Prime platform is a strong testament to our commitment to India’s digital future,” said Kakani in a prepared statement.
