Air India Faces Rs 1.10 Crore Fine from DGCA Over Safety Violations on Specific Long Routes
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has imposed a fine of Rs 1.10 crore on Air India for safety breaches related to flights operating on specific lengthy routes. The regulatory body conducted a thorough investigation following the receipt of a voluntary safety report from an airline employee, accusing Air India of safety violations on critical long-range terrain routes. The findings of the investigation indicated initial non-compliance by the airline, leading the DGCA to issue a show-cause notice to Air India.
The safety report specifically addressed leased aircraft operated by Air India. As the operations of these leased aircraft were found to be inconsistent with regulatory and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) performance limits, the DGCA has taken enforcement action, imposing a penalty of Rs 1.10 crore on Air India, as stated in the release.
