AAP Announces Candidates for Punjab Lok Sabha Elections
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) revealed its inaugural list of candidates for the Punjab Lok Sabha elections, naming eight contenders. Among them are five cabinet ministers, including Gurmeet Singh Khudian from Bathinda, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal from Amritsar, and Laljit Singh Bhullar from Khandur Sahib.
Key Candidates
The list also features sitting MP Sushil Kumar Rinku from Jalandhar, former MLA Gurpreet Singh from Fatehgarh Sahib, and Karamjeet Anmol from Faridkot.
Earlier, AAP had disclosed candidates for four Lok Sabha seats in Delhi and one in Haryana’s Kurukshetra constituency. Notable among them are former Delhi Minister Somnath Bharti for New Delhi and Sahiram Pahalwan for South Delhi.
Electoral Dynamics in Punjab
With 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, the political landscape is vibrant. In the 2019 elections, Congress-led UPA secured 8 seats, while the NDA won four. AAP, making its debut, secured one seat.
First Mover Advantage
AAP’s early candidate announcement demonstrates its proactive approach in gearing up for the impending general elections, positioning itself as the first party to reveal its candidates in Punjab.
