EAM Jaishankar Extends St. Patrick’s Day Wishes to Ireland
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar conveyed warm wishes to the government of Ireland and its Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense, Micheal Martin, on the occasion of St. Patrick’s Day. Jaishankar expressed optimism about further strengthening the longstanding partnership between India and Ireland, particularly in this 75th year of diplomatic ties.
Celebrating Diplomatic Ties on St. Patrick’s Day
In a social media post, Jaishankar extended greetings to FM @MichealMartinTD and the people of Ireland, emphasizing the significance of the 75th year of diplomatic relations between the two nations. He underscored the potential for continued collaboration and cooperation in various areas.
Bilateral Relations and Collaborative Initiatives
Additionally, Jaishankar shared a video showcasing the interactions and meetings between India and Ireland in 2023. The video highlighted bilateral trade reaching USD 4.21 billion in FY 2022-2023 and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Electricity Supply Board of Ireland and the National Thermal Power Corporation of India for energy and R&D collaboration in January 2024.
The video further highlighted the presence of approximately 6,000 Indian students in Irish higher education institutions and the annual visit of around 44,000 Irish tourists to India. Moreover, it noted the significant Indian community of 75,000 in Ireland, reflecting the strong people-to-people ties between the two countries.
