Airtel Tops 2026 Internet Rankings

    Airtel Tops 2026 Internet Rankings

    • Airtel claims 1st place overall for the first time, leading on every single KPI — Download speed (Mb/s), Upload speed (Mb/s), Latency (ms), Web Browsing (%) and Youtube streaming (%) — and retains 5G leadership for the fourth consecutive year.
    • All four operators sustain a consistent upward score trend across five years, reflecting the continued maturation of India’s mobile network landscape and accelerating 5G investment.
    • Vi claims 1st place overall in Web Browsing (%) and Youtube streaming (%) for the first time, signalling genuine progress in the user-experience metrics that matter most to subscribers.

Airtel leads India’s mobile Internet rankings for the period April 2025 – March 2026, topping every key performance indicator overall and retaining 5G leadership for the fourth consecutive year. The annual nPerf barometer reveals a market where competitive gaps are widening at the top, even as all operators demonstrate sustained progress.

Airtel claims 1st place in the overall rankings with a score of 63 725 nPoints, progressing from 2nd position in the previous period. The operator leads on every KPI overall, posting a Download speed (Mb/s) of 62.4 and Upload speed (Mb/s) of 10.2, alongside the best Latency (ms) at 63.32 ms. On 5G, Airtel retains the top position for the fourth consecutive year, leading in Download speed (Mb/s) at 113.8, Upload speed (Mb/s) at 16.8 and Latency (ms) at 59.0 ms — and is actively widening its lead over competitors both overall and on 5G.

Jio follows in 2nd place overall with a score of 58 484 nPoints, sitting more than 8% behind the leader. The operator maintains its five-year record of leading in Download speed (Mb/s) overall, posting 63.4 Mbps, and records the best Web Browsing (%) overall at 60.6. On 5G, Jio co-ranks 2nd with a score of 70 339 nPoints.

Vi completes the overall podium with a score of 43 939 nPoints, claiming 1st place overall in both Web Browsing (%) at 59.0 and Youtube streaming (%) at 71.9 — firsts for the operator in both categories. On 5G, Vi equally claims 1st place for the first time in Web Browsing (%) at 67.6 and Youtube streaming (%) at 77.7, while its overall Download speed (Mb/s) records a strong progression of +23% year-on-year, reaching 18.9 Mbps.

BSNL ranks 4th overall with a score of 27 453 nPoints, yet records the most striking relative improvement in the dataset: Upload speed (Mb/s) overall surges by +116% year-on-year to reach 2.9 Mbps, while Download speed (Mb/s) more than doubles to 7.4 Mbps. BSNL sustains a consistent upward score trend across five years, reflecting the tangible impact of incremental network upgrades.

Measurements are based on tests carried out via the nPerf application on Android and iOS.

India’s mobile market is entering a new phase of competition, where sustained network investment is translating into measurable improvements for users across all operators — and where the leaders are setting a progressively higher benchmark for the entire sector,” says Renaud Keradec, President of nPerf.
