
Winter Vacations in Kashmir and Jammu’s Winter Zones Schools Extended Till March 6
Srinagar, February 28, 2025 – The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has extended winter vacations for all government and private schools up to the higher secondary level in the Kashmir Division and winter zones of Jammu Division. The schools, originally set to reopen on March 1, 2025, will now resume classes on March 7, 2025.
The extension was announced through Government Order No. 168-JK (Edu) of 2025, issued by the School Education Department on February 28, 2025. The decision was made in light of the prevailing winter conditions in the region.
The order was signed by Shantmanu IAS, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), School Education Department. Copies of the order have been sent to key officials, including the Chief Minister’s Office, Director General of Police, Financial Commissioners, Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat, and all Deputy Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir.

The official notification has also been shared with the Director of School Education Jammu/Kashmir, Secretary JKBOSE, Project Director Samagra Shiksha, and media outlets for wide publicity.
Students and parents across Kashmir and Jammu’s winter zones have welcomed the decision, as the extension provides relief from the harsh winter weather.
