Srinagar, February 7, 2025 – The General Administration Department (GAD) of Jammu and Kashmir has issued a crucial circular emphasizing the priority and protocol to be followed by government officers while attending to elected representatives.
The directive, numbered Circular No.05-JK(GAD) of 2025, underscores the importance of extending cooperation and responsiveness to the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in the Union Territory.
According to the circular, all government departments, officers, and officials are mandated to give precedence to the issues flagged by elected representatives. It highlights their crucial role in grassroots governance and stresses that their concerns and grievances should be promptly acknowledged and addressed.
The guidelines instruct officials to accord proper protocol to MLAs in public offices, adhere to established norms in interactions, and deal with them professionally and respectfully.
Furthermore, the circular mandates that elected representatives must be invited to all official functions and meetings organized within their jurisdiction, as well as during visits by dignitaries.
