What’s the Earlier Process, and what’s new going to happen?
Earlier, the tourists from india were required to obtain visas based on travel purposes. Like, if a Indian visit has to visit to tourists destinations in Russia, they had to seek/obtain visas for tourist purpose, and similarly, goes for other purposes.
Presently, it in in effect. But as Russia is planning visa-free entry for Indian tourist by March 2025, if this happens, the Indian visitors won’t face this issue, would be able to travel without visa.

As presently, visitors have to apply for a Unified e-visa (UEV), which nearly takes four days, for processing. This proves beneficial for the tourists, and provide travel access for different purposes. The citizens from 55 counties, including India, could visit Russia Federation through UEV.

Russia has witnessed nearly 26% increase in tourists influx in year 2023, as compared to year 2022. India ranks high in terms of travellers from non-CIS Nations. In first half of 2024, about 28, 500 Indian travellers visited Moscow, with 1.5-fold increase, as compared to the same period of last year.
