The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway (USBRL) track signifies a significant step towards connecting Kashmir with the rest of India. This development, under the jurisdiction of the Firozpur Railway division in Indian Railways’ Northern zone, is a monumental stride in the region’s transportation infrastructure.Kashmir’s first Vistadome coach marks an exciting moment in the region’s development.
The coach, which accommodates 40 passengers, will be officially inaugurated on October 19. The ceremony will see the presence of dignitaries such as Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha or the Union Railway Minister, and all necessary preparations have been completed.
This Vistadome coach is a marvel of modern design and technology, meant to provide passengers with both comfort and breathtaking views during their journey. The inaugural journey on October 19 will unveil this splendid addition to the region’s transportation network.
During a recent trial run from Budgam to Baramulla, conducted by Northern Railways and supervised by senior railway officials, the coach performed successfully. While the ticket rates for the Vistadome coach are yet to be announced, they will be determined by Northern Railways following its inauguration.This extraordinary coach is equipped with large glass windows, LED lights, rotatable seats, and an inbuilt GPS-based information system.
The combination of these features will ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for both visitors and locals, offering them the opportunity to admire the natural beauty of Kashmir while traveling. Furthermore, this Vistadome coach is a significant boost to promoting Kashmir tourism.Manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 4 crore, this coach is a valuable addition to the region’s transportation infrastructure.
It will shield passengers from the region’s extreme temperatures, making travel more pleasant during both the scorching summers and frigid winters.Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had previously announced the forthcoming operation of the country’s first indigenous semi-high-speed train on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail route, expected to commence by the year’s end. He also mentioned that the Udhampur-Banihal track, connecting Jammu with Srinagar, is slated for completion by the end of this year or early next year.
The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway (USBRL) track is a monumental project with the goal of connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country, furthering the region’s development and integration. It is overseen by the Firozpur Railway division of Indian Railways’ Northern zone.
A noteworthy addition to this development is the 359-meter (1,178-foot) tall Chenab Bridge, which, upon completion, will stand as the world’s tallest railway bridge, showcasing India’s engineering prowess and commitment to progress.
