Israel has confirmed the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in a series of airstrikes targeting Hezbollah’s stronghold in Beirut. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that Nasrallah, alongside Ali Karaki, commander of Hezbollah’s Southern Front, and other top officials, were killed in a precision strike.
The attack targeted Hezbollah’s main underground headquarters in the southern suburbs of Beirut, an area known as Dahiyeh, where the militant group’s leadership operates from beneath residential buildings.
The IDF emphasized that the strike occurred while the Hezbollah leadership was coordinating attacks against Israel.
In addition to eliminating key Hezbollah figures, the IDF reported the destruction of several Hezbollah missile stockpiles hidden under residential buildings in Beirut.
Among the missiles destroyed were advanced anti-ship weapons, including Chinese C-704 and C802 models, and Iranian Ghader missiles, which have ranges of up to 200 kilometers.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, following the operation, reiterated Israel’s commitment to protecting its citizens and eliminating threats, stating that Israel will reach anyone who poses a danger to the nation.
The airstrikes came on the same day as a warning issued by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Iran and its proxies, declaring that Israel’s reach extends across the Middle East, including deep into Iran.
These latest developments mark a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, a key Iranian-backed militant group operating in Lebanon.
