    A tragic incident occurred in Betab Valley, Pahalgam, where a 56-year-old tourist from West Bengal drowned in the Lidder River while taking photographs. The incident took place late last night, according to local authorities.

    The tourist, identified as Devabrota Ghosh, a resident of Hoolay in West Bengal, was enjoying the scenic beauty of the valley when the mishap occurred. While attempting to capture the picturesque surroundings, he fell into the fast-flowing Lidder River.

    Immediate efforts were made to rescue him, and he was swiftly transported to the nearby Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Pahalgam.

    Unfortunately, despite the quick response, doctors at the health center declared Ghosh brought dead on arrival. His body remains at the PHC, awaiting further procedures.

    The sudden death of the tourist has sent shockwaves through the local community and fellow tourists, highlighting the dangers of venturing too close to water bodies in scenic yet potentially hazardous locations.

    The local police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the drowning. While preliminary reports suggest it was an accidental fall while taking photographs, the authorities are working to piece together a complete picture of what transpired.

    Betab Valley, a popular tourist destination known for its stunning landscapes, has seen similar incidents in the past, urging officials to remind visitors to exercise caution, particularly near rivers and other natural hazards.
