Kishtwar, September 24: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), conducted two meetings to review the progress of telecom infrastructure development and ongoing National Highway projects in the district.
The meetings aimed to address challenges in mobile connectivity in remote areas like Sub-Division Marwah, Warwan, and assess the pace of highway construction.
In the first meeting, officials from BSNL, JIO, SDM Marwah Dr. Mohamad Ashraf, and ExEn Aslam Lone discussed telecom infrastructure in shadow zones. Key issues included installing mobile towers and laying optical fiber to improve connectivity in these remote regions.
The Deputy Commissioner directed telecom agencies and contractors to expedite the work, deploy additional manpower, and operate in double shifts to meet deadlines. He emphasized that mobile connectivity is vital for the overall development of these areas and warned of penalties for any delays.
Telecom officials assured that the infrastructure would be completed before winter, and deadlines were set. The DC instructed SDM Marwah to monitor the progress closely and take action under the law if targets were not met.
In a separate meeting with representatives of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), the DC reviewed the ongoing highway projects in Kishtwar District.
He emphasized the need to resolve any bottlenecks and ensure the timely completion of construction projects. Frequent inspections were promised to maintain pace and quality of work.
Both meetings underscored the importance of connectivity and infrastructure development for the region’s progress.
