    2. The incident occurred at Sub-District Hospital in Banihal, Ramban district.
    3. An official inquiry has been initiated to investigate the circumstances.

A tragic incident unfolded in Banihal, Ramban district, when a 71-year-old man died on Wednesday, allegedly due to the unavailability of medical staff to provide critical care. The deceased, Ghulam Nabi Bhat, who suffered from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), was rushed to the Sub-District Hospital by his son, Altaf Ahmad. However, upon arrival, no doctors or paramedical staff were present to assist.

In a desperate attempt to save his father, Ahmad performed Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on him. Unfortunately, despite his efforts, Bhat’s condition worsened, and after half an hour, he was moved to the casualty room, where he was pronounced dead.

A video capturing Ahmad’s efforts to revive his father has since gone viral, drawing public attention and concern. In response, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Ramban, Kamal Jee Zadoo, has initiated an inquiry into the incident. The CMO acknowledged the disturbing nature of the video and emphasized the need to investigate the lack of medical personnel during the emergency.

To address the situation, Zadoo has formed a two-member committee consisting of District Health Officer Mohd Iqbal Malik and Medical Officer Mohd Syed. The committee has been tasked with conducting a thorough investigation and submitting their findings within two days.

The incident has raised serious concerns about the availability of emergency medical services in the region, prompting calls for accountability and improvements in healthcare infrastructure.
