Protest Erupts Over Power Shortage in Sonamarg
Men and women protested against the electricity department and stopped the traffic in Pathri Bill Gagangar Sonmarg of Gund Tehsil. The local people allege that people are facing difficulties due to non-availability of electricity in the local settlement for two months.
The protestors said that although the electricity transformer is repaired and installed three times in the local settlement, it breaks down within a few hours. They further said that they pay electricity bills on time after the increase in electricity fee but still they have to stay in the dark.

Traffic on the Srinagar Sonmarg highway remained suspended following protests by local people. Later, SHO Gund Inspector Lutf Ali, Tehsildar Gund Jaye reached the spot and assured the protesting people that their issues should be taken up with the electricity officials. After which, on his assurance, people ended the sit-in and traffic flow was restored on the highway.
