The Rouse Avenue Court of Delhi dismissed bail petitions moved by Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha regarding cases involving the Excise policy, brought forth by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED). Special judge Kaveri Baweja passed the order on Monday, stating both bail petitions in ED as well as the CBI case were dismissed. Senior Advocates Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Vikram Chaudhari, along with advocates Nitesh Rana, Mohit Rao, and Deepak Nagar represented K Kavitha in the matter.
Kavitha’s plea alleged that the investigative agencies, under the influence of the ruling party, aimed to unjustly connect her to the Delhi Excise policy to implicate her further. She claimed the investigation was politically motivated, aimed at tarnishing her image and that of her father, the former Chief Minister of Telangana, ahead of the 2024 elections.
The CBI and ED alleged irregularities in the Excise policy, including undue favors extended to license holders, resulting in significant losses to the exchequer. Despite the dismissal of the bail petitions, detailed order copies are awaited, shedding further light on the court’s decision.
